MAAC, the Maison d’Art Actuel des Chartreux, is a house located in the centre of Brussels, providing six studios for young visual artists working in the field of contemporary art (painting, drawing, installation, video, photography, textile and sound art). The studios are primarily individual workspaces, but interaction, exchange and research are also facilitated. MACC also runs an exhibition space that is open for the artists in residence.

Type of residency

MAAC offers two types of residencies: long-term residencies of one to three years and short-term residencies of six months.

Long-term residencies offer artists the opportunity to develop their work over a period of one to three years. Long-term residencies are financially supported by the COCOF.

Short-term residencies are open for two young visual artists for a period of six months per year. The short-term residencies result with a personal exhibition at MACC. The objective of the short-term residency is to offer artists a space to develop their work in direct relation with the exhibition space, to develop interactions with the public through educational workshops and visits, and to exhibit the resulting project at the end of the residency period.

Multidisciplinary art, painting, drawing, installation, video, photography, textile work and sound art.
