C-TAKT is the merger project of the residency programme TAKT Dommelhof (Neerpelt) and the workspace C-mine culture center (Genk). This new and young workplace has grown out of the need for a place where artists can work on their projects in peace and quiet.
C-TAKT focusses mainly on transdisciplinary artistic expression and young talent. More and more artists today are pushing the boundaries of the art disciplines and even exceed them. New ways of expressing oneself emerge and cannot simply be categorised within a particular discipline. C-TAKT wants to support these artists and the development and realisation of these transdisciplinary types of projects.
More and more artists are making work where it is important to pass through various intermediate stages or work on a theme in a cycle that spans several years. To the end product often precedes a long process of preliminary research. Therefore C-TAKT chooses to support artists and artistic productions in their research and development phase.
C-TAKT acts as a research and creation platform within a wider network. The merger between workshop C-mine and TAKT Dommelhof is further strengthened by structural partners in Flanders and beyond. For example, C-TAKT works closely with five special partners, namely wpZimmer (Antwerp), Platform 0090 (Antwerp), SoAP (Maastricht), Musica (Pelt) and the
international network In Situ.
Type of workspace
Artists who receive financial support from C-TAKT may freely use the allocated budget, but must be able to submit a statement of expenditure. Accommodation, financial and artistic guidance, engineering and logistics are included and are seen as an important part of the support. Meals and catering are not included in the budget, but may form part of the cost statement.
Artistic and business support
Together with its structural and associated partners, C-TAKT forms a broad network rich in artistic expertise and experience. Each project will be provided with the necessary expertise, depending on the specific needs for that project. C-TAKT also provides support with a specialist who guides artists in the financial management of their project.
Infrastructure, logistics and technical support
Both locations that C-TAKT makes available are modern equipped theater institutions with a huge inventory of technical equipment. The C-TAKT infrastructure in Dommelhof (Neerpelt) includes a theater, black box, dance studio, Atrium (also black box), three studios for cooking, meeting and relaxation, living facilities, a restaurant, a sports center, a park and a quiet environment. At C-mine (Genk) we have access to a large theater, a black box, a lab space in Waterschei and in Winterslag, an apartment, a creative environment in an urban context. The technical team consists of approximately 15 people in total. In addition, special technical equipment is available from Dommelhof to work in the public space. A joinery and a blacksmith shop are used for the realisation of scenography, accessories, installations, public facilities, repairs and advice.
