Be-Part is a platform for contemporary art located in Waregem and Kortrijk, in West Flanders. It is an international laboratory for the creation and distribution of contemporary art. With a focus on visual arts, it also assigns an important place and attention to the interaction with other disciplines, in order to present contemporary art in all its diversity, and to introduce the public to the recent developments and the debates in the art world.
Be-Part is an initiative of the province of West Flanders. It is neither a museum nor an art centre, but an institution that combines the functions of exhibition space and studio space. Through its artist in residence programme, Be-Part wants, in accordance with its own philosophy, to provide an answer to the needs of the arts field in West Flanders.
Type of residency
Every year, Be-Part invites a number of artists who have a relationship with West Flanders or artists from abroad to come and work for a while in the Be-Part Studio. The artist in residence receives a well-equipped workplace and a substantive support for production. Be-Part looks after the guest artists as well as possible so that they can work in peace.
